It's hard to believe it's already been a year since we launched Hollowpoint Jerky! Ormond Brewing Company took us under their wing and helped us create a unique experience by pairing craft beers with our craft jerky. Watch our launch party video here.
Last year, we paired four beers with four jerky flavors. This year, we had seven jerky flavors and also offered our new line of Real American Snacks, so we limited the beer pairing to one and paired our Red Stiletto jerky with OBC's 'The Dude' - a chocolate milk stout. When combined the flavor profile is reminiscent of a chocolate covered cherry.
Chefs Nate and Kristen from Sweets-N-Eats went above and beyond by creating our very own Hollowpoint Eggrolls. Imagine mac and cheese and granulated jerky immersed in an eggroll wrapped and deep fried. Talk about a match made in heaven! They offered two versions - mild, using our Red Stiletto and wild, using our Ghost Recon.
We also hosted a hot jerky challenge, where 5 brave souls accepted. Participants had to consume an entire bag of Willy Petes Heat Scorpion Pepper Jerky in 3 minutes or less.
The winner, Scott Jarvis, is the new record holder. He devoured that bag in a mere 1 minute, 51 seconds. Holy cow! Click here to watch the jerky challenge video.
His prize included: the return of his $10 entry fee, an OBC Beer of his choice, and a one pound bag of Willy Petes Heat Beef Jerky.
We enjoyed live entertainment (between the storms) by local musician, Brad Yates. He was a great sport and drew the winning ticket for our raffle prize.
Last, but not least, we held a raffle for an awesome gift pack valued at $200. All funds raised were donated to the Giving Beck Fund; a non-profit that helps Veterans with a variety of assistance. It was an honor to give back to those who have given so much to us.
Thank you to all who came out and celebrated with us. Even though we were rained on (a few times & the reason I look like a drowned rat), we had an amazing turnout and enjoyed having our party at the place where it all started!
